Shall We Sing?
USA, 2007, 42min., color, documentary
Shall We Sing? is a story of the New York Men’s Choir, composed of fifty Japanese businessmen living in New York. This documentary follows the choir and its members over the course of one year as they prepare for their annual Christmas concert. Through their weekly rehearsals, in their homes, out for evenings of karaoke and cocktails, away at overnight training camps, and during volunteer concerts at schools and hostpitals, the members gradually build a unique vocal harmony and a very strong bond. The film provides a glimpse into the lives of the choir’s members, far away from their home country and bound by their love for singing.
